How would you describe your approach to therapy?
I am a Gestalt counsellor, which means we will focus on the ‘here and now’ in our sessions together. My job is to help you explore how the past might be affecting your feelings and behaviour in the present. Understanding yourself in this way can help you make changes and move forward in your life.
As well as a safe space to talk, I also offer a variety of creative approaches which can help you explore your feelings more deeply or to move on when you are feeling ‘stuck’. Working creatively is always completely optional though – I will always work in whatever way is best for you.
What are your core values in working with clients?
I am kind and empathetic, and will accept you, exactly as you are, without judgement. I value authenticity and bring my real self into the counselling room – definitely not perfect, but fully committed to listening to you and helping you move forward.
How would you describe your personality in three words?
Kind, creative and accepting.
What would you want clients to know about their growth process?
Sometimes growth happens quickly, sometimes it feels like you are standing still, or even going backwards! You will not be alone though; I will be there to support you. When it feels most difficult, that’s when it’s most important to keep going, because that is where the biggest growth will be found.
It takes commitment and courage to keep coming to counselling every week, but trust the process, it really does work.
What do you hope clients take away from their session(s) with you?
I hope you will come away from our sessions feeling seen, heard and accepted, and gain self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-belief and hope for the future. I hope that through our sessions you will begin to understand the resources and ability that you have within yourself to achieve more than you ever imagined to be possible.
