Come along to Sham Rocks Festival, 10th & 11th of May, New Milton!!
Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you and supporting you to find ways to deal with emotional issues and difficult challenges that you may be facing at this time. After exploring what may be troubling you, the counsellor will work with you to find ways in which you can make positive and workable changes to your circumstances.
We provide a completely confidential and non–judgemental environment to help you make sense of what is happening in your life. Everybody is unique and we take this into account when working with you. Dependent on your presenting problems and issues, we will work with you using a variety of techniques in order to create long term solutions and a positive outcome. Each counsellor at KvLS Mental Health Support is trained to a high standard, is fully insured and work within the BACP and/or NCPS ethical guidelines.
All counselling sessions are up to 50 minutes.
We have daytime, evening and weekend sessions available.
There is no limit to the number of counselling sessions you can have. Your counsellor will review with you every six weeks or so if you are still working towards your goals, if you have reached them and if there is anything else you would like to focus on.
When opting in for the Low Cost Counselling Service, your sessions will take place weekly; same day, same time for the duration of your counselling process.
KvLS Mental Health Support is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to a confidential and safe space with one of our dedicated counsellors. We aim to keep our fee for each session at a rate that is affordable, in comparison to private practice fees, whilst offering a high quality service and short waiting times, without compromising on the quality of counselling that you receive.
Sessions can cost up to £75 for individual sessions, couple's sessions up to £90 per session. We could help you with the cost of the sessions. Please be aware that £40 per session covers our basic overall cost. We currently offer a 'Self Select Fee' from £25 per session - no questions asked!
When opting in for Specialist Counselling or EAP Services, our fees are in line with industry standards.
Any information about yourself, including the fact that you are in counselling is confidential to KvLS Mental Health Support.
The exception to this is if you tell us something that implies you will harm yourself, or a third party may be at risk, we are required to inform your GP. If we believe a child is at risk, we are required to make this information available to the appropriate service. In all cases, we would hope to do this with your permission, but will still proceed even if your permission is not given. This is in accordance with the Ethical Framework for Good Practice of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society's Code of Ethics.
Also when working online or by phone, we cannot guarantee confidentiality from your location. The responsibility for this rests with yourself. For us to work together online or by phone, we need to know that you can create a quiet space for yourself to talk freely and without interruption. For added privacy and session comfort, we would strongly suggest to use headphones with a microphone.
All KvLS counsellors have mandatory, regular casework supervision with a qualified supervisor. The supervisor's role is to support and monitor the counsellor's work and is confidential to the service. And of course all records are stored securely & are GDPR compliant.
In person appointments take place at one of our therapy rooms in Central Southampton or from Summer 2025 in Bournemouth. Have a look at our contact page to find out the exact addresses. Of course you can request sessions via telephone or online by video call.
On our intake form we will ask you your availability: the more options you give us, the faster you will be able to have your first session and start your counselling process. We endeavor to have you meeting your counsellor within two weeks of returning the intake form.
